Artist Lucy Harrison is collecting song lyrics chosen by residents of the five host boroughs, to be displayed in an outdoor projection event in Hackney Wick in September.
The project is a celebration of the different styles of music listened to in east London. Local residents are invited to choose a line from one of their favourite songs which says something about the area and their hopes for the future.
The Mobile Lyric Collection Unit will be visiting locations around Hackney Wick this summer and you are invited to come along with your music (CD, vinyl, MP3, online or sing your own). The collection unit will be run in collaboration with David Moynihan (Vyner Street festival / the Eel / Dirty Canvas) and will be gathering eclectic musical choices at various venues, dates to follow.
If you are part of a group that would like to be visited, to share and discuss your favourite music, get in touch.
Alternatively you can send your choices to lightupyourstreet@btinternet.com
This project has been commissioned by the Olympic Delivery Authority and is supported by Arts Council England. It is inspired by one of the ODA’s art commissions “RUN” by Monica Bonvicini which will be installed inside the Olympic Park this Autumn.
